Radiometer - Hanging Solar Crookes Radiometers
The first radiometer was invented by English physicist, Edward Crookes.
Crookes set out to demonstrate, with simple physics, how light can be
transformed into energy through movement. The resulting radiometer is a
simple solar power plant. Radiometers measure the “radiation” of light
sources. The spinning movement intensifies when exposed to strong
sunlight or artificial light.
